Ik had mijn processor iets overgeclocked met CPUFSB (Google naar CPU FSB).
Ik heb een Intel Pentium 4 Northwoord Socket 478 van 2,66 Ghz. Moederboard is van MSI en heet MS-6701
De PPL is van ICS type 952005. Hij gaf constant aan dat de PPL verkeerd was, tot een keertje.. hij was correct en toen had ik hem op 2,82 GHz staan. Overnieuw opgestart en alles stond ook volgens Windows dat hij geclocked was op 2,82. Nadat ik de PC had verplaatst (kabels er uit) was hij weer 2,66 GHz.. en nu lukt het niet meer met CPUFSB! Waarom?

Externe kabels eruit zou niets mogen uitmaken... alleen een CMOS reset zou de FSB kunnen terugzetten.
Mja ik gebruik zelf voor CPU/Mem overclocken alleen de bios, aangezien ik mijn bedenkingen heb bij die progjes via Windows.
Hoezo gebruik je zelf niet gewoon de bios? mocht er momenteel geen optie zijn in de bios, heb je al eens uitgezocht of er een nieuwe biosversie beschikbaar is met meer opties?

Ik beb een bios lock, daarom gebruik ik CPUFSB. Bovendien heb ik gewoon een bios van Award Bios 6.00!
Maar Medion heeft maar 1 update uitgebracht.. dat was iets voor de harde schijf en voor mij dus niet belangrijk. Bovendien weet ik niet hoe ik (Award) bios update's doe. En ik heb geen diskette drive.
Kan je me helpen?
Edit: Het is gelukt, ik ga nu hier mijn results laten zien:
Ik heb hem nu ingesteld op 2,91 GHz. Lekker stable enz..

Hoe heb je getest dat die stabiel is dan? Ik heb me AMD-processor ook wel op 2.6 gehad, maar dan was die niet stabiel meer. Maar ik had ook geen last van BSoD, maar dan merkte je dat sommige processen niet meer lekker liepen.
Ik adviseer je om met SuperPI even wat hoge waarden probeert uit te rekenen, als die dan foutmeldingen geeft loopt die niet echt stabiel meer. Soms werkt alles volgens jou dan wel perfect maar dan blijkt opeens toch weer net iets weer fout te gaan. (had ik ook last van, de printer werkte soms opeens niet meer:S, voor de rest liep ie wel lekker op 2.6)

Hmmz, dan kan je beter even (lees: minstens een paar uur!) Prime95 draaien op hogeprioriteit
@TS: maar hoe en wat heb je nu dan werkend gekregen? CPUFSB? en alleen FSB aangepast?

CPUFSB werkte niet bij mij. Hij zij constant dat de PPL verkeerd was. CPUCooL van dezelfde maker zag hem wel als correct. Zometeen een verslagje van SuperPI en Prime95..

Ik bouw op, en zit nu op 4 Mb.. geen error's, is dit een goed teken?

Die doe ik direct er na, maar brand die dan mijn CPU niet door of slaat mijn PC dan gwn uit?

Ik denk dat je 4 Miljoen bedoelt, SuperPI rekent PI uit met een aantal cijfers achter de komma in jouw geval dus 4 miljoen. Ik zou ook nog gewoon even 16 miljoen doen. Het is iig wel een goed teken dat de pc geen foutmelding geeft;)
En als je processor te warm word dan schakelt die zichzelf uit, dat is meestal bij 75 tot 90 graden zo. Doorbranden gebeurt niet zo snel, of je koeler valt er af:P.

Ik doe wel meteen 32, dan weet ik het zeker. Bovendien doe ik het op Vista en is mijn PC niet gemaakt voor Vista dus is het alleen maar beter. Zometeen nog Prime95 draaien .. paar uurtjes en dan ben ik klaar.

Moderne cpu's kunnen niet doorbranden indd.
Maar als je koeling zijn werk goed doet, zou je pc ook niet uit moeten gaan door te hoge temperatuur, want dat kan betekenen dat als je een zware game of prog zou draaien dat je ook de kans loopt dat je pc opeens uitgaat door overhitting. Lijkt me dus ook niet zo lekker.
Maar voornamelijk gaat het er bij prime om dattie geen fouten vindt in een paar uur (minstens 2 uur, liefst een nachtje van 12 uur aanlaten). Soms kan een pc heel lang meegaan, terwijl prime er fouten op zou vinden, het ligt er maar aan wat jij met je pc van plan bent en of je het risico kan lopen gegevensverlies te lijden bij uitval.

Hij viel net uit bij het berekenen van PI met 32 Miljoen decimalen achter de comma. Maar zeker niet door overhitting want zo warm voelt hij niet en de sensor van CPUCooL geeft maar ~56,0 graden aan..

Het is een MD8000 XL (G??n XXL?)
Het is inderdaat een standaard koeler, en het kan makkelijk want mijn processor is als ik game 40,0 graden..
En de MD8000 serie heeft een MD5000 moederboard, maar dan met nieuwe stuff er op.
Bovendien is het g??n standaard MD8000, die kan geen Windows Vista draaien, ik heb het een en ander geschroeft en gekocht:
Dit is mischien een beetje buiten jouw probleem om, maar als je je processor nog hoger wil clocken dan zal je eventueel nog naardittopic kunnen kijken. Want ik denk dat jij je geheugen ook hebt mee geclockt en dat is niet zo verstandig, in dat topic kun je een beetje bekijken hoe je je geheugen dan moet instellen.

Maar zijn probleem is juist dat hij niet in z'n bios komt. Anders zou hij ook agp/pci(-e) lock kunnen aanzetten en z'n vCore kunnen verhogen wat ook bevordelijk is voor overclocken.
Onderclocken kan indd. ook instabiliteit tot gevolg hebben, maar zoiets wordt meestal alleen door te laag voltage o.i.d. veroorzaakt.
Geeft Prime95 op alles standaard zoals de pc bij aflevering stond ingesteld wel zonder fouten? (dus op 2,66)

Het is logisch dat het niet op manier kan als in dat topic, aangezien hij toch een heel andere bios heeft. Het ging me er om dat hij een beetje zou snappen hoe het zit met het geheugen en wat je daar aan moet veranderen.

Mijn geheugen is nog hetzelfde. Hij draait nu stabiel op 2,86 (Kan PI berekenen tot 16 Miljoen decimalen.. 32 duurt ?rg lang) En bovendien krijg ik die error ook op 2,66 GHz.. beetje raar?
