Ik ben niet zeker of ik dit hier zou moeten posten, maar ik vond geen geschikter board hiervoor...
Ik stel dus voor iemand een pc samen, en ik steek deze ook zelf in elkaar gezien ik dit goed kan (eigenlijk doe ik bijna niets anders)
Gezien het om een zeer goede vriend gaat, zou ik natuurlijk een goede pc voor een redelijke prijs willen samenstellen.
Ik heb bijna alle onderdelen, maar ik twijfel over het cpu... Nu ben ik aan het denken of een dualcore beter zou zijn dan een single core. De dualcore is namelijk maar een paar eurotjes meer, dus zou ik voor de dualcore gaan? Ik twijfel echt enorm, hier zijn de 2 processors:
Als die Dualcore opmerkelijk beter is, dan zou ik het niet laten voor die paar euro's meer... Wat vinden jullie? Doen of laten?

En voor nog weer een paar euro duurder heb je een AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (AM2, 2.2Ghz, 1MB, 1Ghz, 65W) ? 93,88 . Deze is sowieso aanmerkelijk beter dan een 3800. Ik zou voor die gaan.

Het ligt eraan wat voor een werk die processor moet doen, als dit namelijk bijna altijd gamen is kan je beter voor de single core gaan, is het echter meer voor ander werk dat simultaan op de pc gaat worden uitgevoerd (wat bij games nog lang niet het geval is, tenzij je tijdens het gamen andere dingen wil doen die ook echt processorkracht vereisen) dan kan je beter voor de dual core gaan.
Alleen voor een echte gamer lijkt het mij nu dus nuttig om nog een single core te kopen i.p.v. dual core.
Prestaties en tests van de individuele processoren had je zelf natuurlijk ook al genoeg kunnen vinden, evenals de argumentatie waarom je voor dual core zou moeten kiezen ;)

Dus dualcore is aanmerkelijk beter dan de singlecore als het aankomt op:
* Windows opstarten
* programma's opstarten
* taken uitvoeren
* etc...
Zolang het maar niet gamen is, want dan is de singlecore beter? Dan lijkt het me logisch dat ik beter de dualcore voor die persoon kies. Zij speelt namelijk nauwelijks een spel of wat dan ook.

Een zin als 'met een dualcore kun je ook beter gamen'
is ?rg onduidelijk en slaat nergens op...
Het is niet om vervelend tegen je te doen, en ik heb zelf ook een dual core systeem, maar de manier waarop de uitspraak gedaan wordt is die gewoon niet juist, aangezien er om te beginnen al veel single core procs zijn die het beter doen in game-benchmarks dan lagere dual cores en een vergelijking maken tussen single en dual core (en dan ook nog eens op model en type) kan alleen door benchmarks of prijzen.
Tot nu toe maken de meeste games nou eenmaal geen echt gebruik van het dual core principe.
Als er gestaan had 'met DIE dual core kun je ook beter gamen' hadden we er nog over kunnen discussi?ren omdat het nogal twijfelachtig is in de benchmarks die op internetstaan of de X2 3600+ beter presteert bij de meeste nieuwe games als de 3800+.
Mja hoe dan ook, in dit geval is het zeker verstandiger voor de TS om een X2 dual core te nemen, en als het prijsverschil indd zo klein is tussen 3600+ en 4200+ zoals Christiaan zegt, is dat zeer mooi meegenomen en van de 4200+ kan je makkelijker zeggen dat hij beter presteert in veel games als de single core 3800+.

Ik zal de dualcore nemen, is ook een beetje moderner dan de single core (nieuwere technologie bedoel ik :p )
1 vraagje dat ik belangrijk vind, is dat de Athlon X2 3600+ minder GHz's heeft dan de Athlon 3800+ (3800+ @2.4 en ik geloof de X2 3600+ @ 2.0 - ofzoiets- )
Is dit niet nadeliger, dat je een lagere kloksnelheid hebt?

Er zijn meer dingen belangrijk, of het allemaal voor jou relevant is, is iets anders.
De kloksnelheden van single en dual core zijn iig niet te vergelijken, en een sempron is ook niet met een athlon te vergelijken op basis van kloksnelheid. Laat staan vergelijken tussen Intel en AMD procs.
Er worden (soms echt totaal) andere architecturen gebruikt, en zijn er bijv. ook nog verschillen in bussnelheid en cache (L1/L2/L3).
Zoals ik al zei, is het dus alleen te vergelijken a.d.h.v. benchmarks en praktische tests.
Kijken naar kloksnelheid heeft alleen nut als je bijv naar twee X2 Manchester modellen kijkt (bijv. de X2 3800+ en de X2 4600+, dan weet je zeker dat de laatsgenoemde op stockspeeds sneller is.
